The Journal of a Spiritual Seeker, A Message for the Change of Seasons
Hello Seekers,
One of the amazing things about the process of sharing these messages with you is how they resonate again exactly where and how I need them to as I revisit and organize them here. I’m currently in a major change of seasons within. And just as my body has different requirements every time the weather changes, energetically I’m finding myself having to adjust as things shift and change for me spiritually.
It’s not bad, it’s just different.
This message was speaking to me specifically and literally about my feelings around the garden at that time, but isn’t the garden is a good metaphor for how we change spiritually in cycles with the Planet? The analogy can apply whether you are tending to plants or not.
When I wrote this, it was Fall in the Northern Hemisphere, as it is now. As I revisit this message, I’m setting the intention to pay closer attention to the messages of Fall that are showing up in spectacular and colorful glory all around me. For my friends in the Southern Hemisphere who have just come out of hibernation mode, I encourage you to notice instead what you’re being told by Spring. What has been happening as things awaken around you? What did you learn during the slower months of winter that can be applied now?
And for all of us, no matter what the weather is doing where you are, what can you notice about the spiritual season you’re inhabiting right now? Where does this metaphor find you in your cycles of growth and healing?
In Light and with Love,
Jodie

Message from the Light, Sept. 27, 2017
Seasons change and it is not for us to hang on to or attach to our ideas of how this change should come about or what this change should bring. Simply be present and experience the change as a joyful expression of creation all around you.
The birds know this, and are singing about it now as you listen to their squawks and squees. Their song is one of rejoicing, for they have had a beautiful Summer, and they are ready for what will come next. Notice the squirrels with their nuts, ferrying away food for the Winter. They too rejoice for Winter gives way to spring and without it, the rebirth would not come.
Your attachment to the evidence of life — plants that are in bloom, trees bedecked with leaves and the bright colors of flowers all around — is a limitation, for within the Winter there is still life slumbering under the soil, sleeping in the trees and softly hidden within the nests of creatures great and small. Winter is a beautiful time of hibernation and preparation, a time of rest and rejuvenation.
During this Winter, you will experience a great awakening to our messages and missives, and come Spring you will be ready for growth.
Fall is a time of thankfulness. Spend these weeks in gratitude for the time and space you’ve shared with these plants and animals here. Say goodnight to them, wish them happy slumber and prepare for them all the nourishment they will need to come back in the Spring. For the annuals, thank them for this season and ask, if they wish to return next year, to present you with opportunities to find them come Spring.
Me: Thank you!

I want to share a little story about the garden this message speaks because something amazing has happened in these last few years. I’d never had annuals come back as volunteers before, but since this message three years ago, and since I asked them to “present me with opportunities to find them come Spring,” more and more have popped up to join us for another season without being planted by us.
This year, because of the pandemic, we were mostly away from this little city garden, which we were used to tending with so much love and devotion. We always filled this small space with tons of flowers, so that their bright and cheerful colors were everywhere we looked. Without us present to plant and tend, the fairies and devas planted and tended for us. We would come back to find flowers in bloom and plants thriving — without care or regular watering! I know that, had we been present to take care of things and just chosen not to do it, the fairies and devas would not have taken over in this way, because it would have been our responsibility. But since it was out of our control, and since we’d worked together to co-create this lovely oasis for them these past few years, they gladly took up the charge and kept things beautiful in our absence.
Even if you don’t have a garden of your own, I encourage you to begin talking to the plants you see around you in your daily life. Open your heart to their messages, and allow the words or images or feelings they share to come to you. And then just be ready to share a beautiful experience with them. Keep your eyes and heart open to discovering how that experience grows and expands.

Exercise: Begin each exercise by grounding and protecting. For more information on how, see this post.
Get grounded and go within. Ask yourself, which season does it feel like I’m currently in? How long have I been in this season — am I just beginning to change, or have I been here for awhile, or does it feel like change is coming any day now? How does where I’m at feel? Is it possible for me to experience peace here, while also feeling the movement of Light taking me into what’s next?

A brief note: This journal and its exercises are simply a means to help you find your own flow. There is no pressure to follow them exactly or read each and every one. It does not need to be read in order either, so if you miss one, don’t feel like you’ve failed or fallen behind. These messages are here to hold space for you as you discover and evolve within your spiritual practice.
This is the first volume of The Journal of the Spiritual Seeker, and I’m presenting it here on The Devic Connection website, serialized over the last 10 weeks of 2020, with weekly roundups via email (you can sign up in the box at the bottom of this page if you’d like to receive these.) If you’ve just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning, here’s the link to the first post.
