The Journal of a Spiritual Seeker, Truth and Examining Truths
Hello Seekers,
This is a short message from the Light about universal truths. In it, the Light quotes the U.S. Declaration of Independence — a complicated document written by a complicated group of men for a complicated place. This country I live in continues to be complicated, and so very unjust in so very many ways. Until our awareness of our history begins and ends with the recognition that this is a place founded on genocide and slavery, and our awareness of our present includes the fact that many of the systems in place continue to uphold the basic tenets of genocide and slavery, I’m not sure how much of it can actually be uncomplicated. I don’t see these statements as political. I feel them as spiritual, because they resonate so deeply as truths — and truth is important, and continuing to live in a fantasy is unawareness. And also, what is the point of all the love and light we can channel if it’s not being used to heal ourselves, and the world around us?
The Light points out here that there are certain universal truths that, when we hear them, register recognition deep within us. We aren’t always in a position to live up to or to live in our truths, but the awareness of them is a step that moves energy and allows the flow of Light.
If you walked into a dark room you’d never been in before, would you stumble around in the dark and continue to knock into or trip over things, perhaps injuring yourself severely in the process, or would you turn on the light? Unawareness is like that, and bringing awareness and calling Light into these places and spaces is as simple as flipping on a light switch. You might not like the decor once you’ve turned on the Light. It might make you feel deeply uncomfortable and make you wish you were somewhere else. But you can’t begin to redecorate the room until you’ve turned on the light.
We need to look at our truths. And then be ready, as we bring more Light through and allow our awareness to expand, for those truths to change and adapt and evolve and align more and more with the Light.
We can acknowledge the ways that certain ideals might align with the world that we want to live in and wish we lived in, while also acknowledging the ways the world doesn’t look like that yet, and the ways we can be a part of the healing to bring those ideals into reality. The same is true in our own lives, and working to align our daily lives with our universal truths is a spiritual calling.
Don’t be afraid to turn on the Light.
Love,
Jodie

Message from The Light, Oct. 30, 2017
Be open. Open your heart and your mind. Allow for the expansiveness of the Universal Light to flow through both your heart and your mind.
Comprehension is another construct designed to keep you in limitation. You don’t need to comprehend what you already know. Universal Truths are simply there, in your soul.
“All (people) are created equal” is popular because for many it carries the ring of a universal truth. “We hold these truths to be self-evident …”
These words were written by flawed men who were unable to grasp or acknowledge the ways in which they were not living up to these words, yet the words still have the ring of universal truth. It is not required a mastery of the concepts in order to know them as truth.
Look inside. Find the place of truth. Does it burn with a light? Or is it clouded by energetic imbalances? Examine what you know. Does the knowing of this lift your spirit, or sink you into a density of darkness? This is your gauge.
Truth uplifts and transcends the constructs society has placed on us.

Exercise: Begin each exercise by grounding and protecting. For more information on how, see this post.
Be sure you’re grounded and then ask yourself these questions: What are your universal truths? What do you know deep inside is true because you feel its truth? How does your daily life and the world you live in align with those universal truths? What are the little or big ways you can adjust to live more in alignment with those truths?
Write down your answers and then come back to them in a few days or a week. What have you revealed to yourself about yourself through this questioning process.

A brief note: This journal and its exercises are simply a means to help you find your own flow. There is no pressure to follow them exactly or read each and every one. It does not need to be read in order either, so if you miss one, don’t feel like you’ve failed or fallen behind. These messages are here to hold space for you as you discover and evolve within your spiritual practice.
This is the first volume of The Journal of the Spiritual Seeker, and I’m presenting it here on The Devic Connection website, serialized over the last 10 weeks of 2020, with weekly roundups via email (you can sign up in the box at the bottom of this page if you’d like to receive these.) If you’ve just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning, here’s the link to the first post.
