The Journal of a Spiritual Seeker, Working with Nature in Balance
Hello Seekers,
Last week I shared a story about our city garden and how the fairies and devas have been tending it for us during the pandemic. (Here’s the link if you missed that post and would like to read more.) Today I’m sharing some of the earliest communication I had with specific devas from that garden after our first summer together in that space.
I still don’t spend as much time as I’d like communicating with the plant spirits in the gardens that I tend. It’s a goal of mine always to increase that communication, listen more, follow their guidance more and just generally be more in balance and harmony with them as we work together to create beautiful spaces and grow nourishing food. I love the suggestions they provide here, but have to confess I’ve not followed them all.
“But you’ve listened,” I just heard, “and you’ve taken the guidance into your heart and that is important too.”
So, even if you’re not prepared to become a full-time garden whisperer, I encourage you to read this with an open heart and allow their messages of love to move into the places and spaces you need it most. Simply listening opens our hearts to their communication, and amplifies the energy that we share with those beings of Light in the Devic Realm who can co-create a more sustainable world with us. And it’s fun!
So have fun with this one, and simply notice the opportunities you have to communicate with those beings of Light who share this multi-dimensional space with us. We might not be able to see them or hear them directly, but they are there, all around us. And they are sharing their light with us all the time through the plants and trees and flowers.

Messages from the Devic Collective, a tree deva and various plant spirits, Oct. 1, 2017
The Devic Collective: The fire elementals are strong and fierce. They cleanse and protect.
The water elementals are kind and nurturing. They nourish and give life to many things.
The earth elementals are solid and strong. In them we take root and from them gain nutrients.
The air elementals are changeable to you, but constant in their ability to move us all with a common breath.
These beings, when in balance, work in perfect concert to bring about all that is the beauty and wonder of nature. But out of balance, any of these become a destructive force. Sometimes destruction is necessary to bring about new life, but sometimes these forces are manipulated by humans and other entities, and this misuse of power must be met with equal and opposing forces of Light.
Light will prevail, have no doubts about that, but be open and willing to adapt to the ways in which Light will use you as a force for good.
Do not use your mind to decide how this outcome will come about, for your mind is limited and the Light is so much more vast than anything you could ever imagine. Simply be open, allow and accept your guidance to come through for it is coming from Source and your connection to Source and your soul as an expression of Source.
Simply be in this space, trust in this space, allow yourself to justify the time spent on this work, for it is time very well spent.
This is what you need right now, so trust that what is being said pertains to what you need to hear.
Open your heart to the work and to the messages you will receive. Allow them to permeate every cell of your physical body, integrate into every space of your etheric body and expand into all the realms of your multi-dimensional selves.
Tune in now to some of the specific Devas you’ve been dancing around, for they will be glad to hear from you.
From the Black Walnut in my backyard:
Hello, my friend. You’ve been admiring me, and for that I am glad. We trees are such objects to so many of you, as evidenced by my limbs, which have been cut and hacked unnaturally to make way for these wires (the electric company’s power lines). It’s unfortunate to see how myself and my friends are mutilated for these things that people think they need, but your love and attention makes us feel good.
I gift you these walnuts as a message of encouragement, with hope they can be used for a practical purpose. Try making ink from them, and see if my seeds can help bring through the messages you will receive. This would be a great joy to me to be of assistance in this way.
Take heart, young one, for we trees are stronger than we now look. Our spirits live long and well, and though one of us might die, the spirit of us all goes on.
Be honest with yourself, it will help in this process. You have not always paid attention to the suffering around you, but that is to be expected. If you were to always be open to the sorrow of our realm or yours, the sorrow would burn you up inside and you would not be able to continue your work.
Temper this knowledge with the joy of the Earth, for it still exists and is abundant. The joy you feel when one of my seeds falls to Earth with a “crack!”, when our leaves rustle in the breeze and you feel you’re heart lift at the sounds of our chorus. The beauty of these flower friends who smile on you as you smile on them. Be uplifted, for your help uplifts us!
Carry our sorrow in whatever ways you can constructively transmute it to action in our defense. But don’t allow it to overwhelm you, for that sense of dread harms us all.
We must rejoice at what we have instead of constantly lamenting what we’ve lost.
Your tears at our deaths should be tears of joy, for it is a wonder that any of us live at all.
Don’t borrow trouble, for the future is not where we exist. Be present in life, take joy and pleasure at what today has to offer. Be well in this, for your wellness is ours and we take joy in you as well.
Good night, dear friend. It is nearing time to sleep and we are glad to rest knowing this work you will do.
From the spirit of the Zinnia:
The season is almost over and you are sad you will not see us again until spring. Don’t be! We come back with those new plants, and you will meet us again.
We have had a beautiful season with you. Your joy in our cheery faces helped us grow strong and tall, blossom and bloom in abundance. We like this yard, and the space in which we can co-create. Your intention to do this with us is so very much appreciated and we rejoice in this place.
Fall is a time of great joy. You see us turning brown and “dying,” but energy doesn’t die, and so neither can we for that is what we are. Energy made manifest by intention and love.
Try growing us from seed next spring. We would love to start our lives with your love and intention from the start. By then, you will be more attuned to your guidance and more able to discuss with us our needs. Trust us, and trust yourself. These things we know and these things we will show you.
Practice and you will see, it will get easier to distinguish between your mind and our guidance.
Don’t discount the guidance of others (like gardening experts), as well, but when it is in conflict with what you are receiving from us, trust us, for we will not steer you wrong. We know what we need for this exact space and time. We will be experts in our own lives and our own wellbeing. As will you in your life and wellbeing.
Thank you for sharing this time, for opening to the space. We love you and love the love we receive from you. It has been a wonderful summer, and we look forward to working together to create a beautiful oasis again next year.
Dahlias:
Hello! We are so anxious to talk to you because we have a great deal to say!
We are strong and vital, but we need more care at the base of our stems. When we come up next spring, pay more attention to our stems to help us grow strong so we don’t pitch over like we did this year. We need nutrients too. What you learn about compost will be wonderful and we will be glad to partake in its results.
We love to bloom, and love for you to share our blooms. Next year, please cut more and give them to people. Bring us inside so we can smile together! This joy shared will help us bloom more abundantly, and bring more joy even still!
We enjoy laughter and folly, the happenings of you and yours and of our animal friends delight us. Please share more joy with us, for it will make us strong as well. Tell us stories and sing us songs — we will sing along!
Me: Thank you, Dahlias, for sharing with me this first very specific piece of advice. My heart opens with it and rejoices.
Dahlias: Thank you for sharing this time of co-creation.
Keep a book — a garden book. Put us all in there so we can build upon what we’ve all experienced together. It will be like a living garden of its own, and we will all write it together! What fun this will be, for us and for you. We love to create and express our love of all things, interconnected as we are. It is our greatest joy and our purpose. Start to gather the materials today. You will feel so much better saying goodnight to us if you have the beginnings of this book in place.
The Angel of Our Home and Our Yard:
Hello, my dear friend. I take great joy in our existence here together.
Little Dog’s bounding about and the new child’s (Mom’s dog, Ginger had just arrived a few weeks before) effervescence and joy are balms to my spirit, which is a part of the greater spirit of the area. The home you make here and the life you bring helps this greater overarching spirit of our area heal from the ravages it has suffered. We thank you for this for this, and look forward to spending more time discussing this topic, and looking at ways that you can help.
This house had been silent for a long time, and now it is filled with such life and joy. This yard is a Mecca for beings of light in this area to rest and rejuvenate before going back to the front lines. Together we are creating that space, and it is a beautiful expression of Source.
Go now and be with Little Dog, we will continue another time.

Exercise: Begin each exercise by grounding and protecting. For more information on how, see this post.
Go to a place that you can share with nature, either in your own garden, in a park or at a beach. If you can’t get outside to a place of nature, visualize yourself in a place you love where you feel very connected to the Earth and to the flow of life around you. Do your grounding and protection exercises and then sit quietly and listen with both your ears and your heart. What do you hear? If you feel called, write or record what you experience. As you continue on through your day and week, notice your connections to the Planet and to the beings of Light who share this Planet with us. Do you feel and/or hear anything you maybe hadn’t before?

A brief note: This journal and its exercises are simply a means to help you find your own flow. There is no pressure to follow them exactly or read each and every one. It does not need to be read in order either, so if you miss one, don’t feel like you’ve failed or fallen behind. These messages are here to hold space for you as you discover and evolve within your spiritual practice.
This is the first volume of The Journal of the Spiritual Seeker, and I’m presenting it here on The Devic Connection website, serialized over the last 10 weeks of 2020, with weekly roundups via email (you can sign up in the box at the bottom of this page if you’d like to receive these.) If you’ve just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning, here’s the link to the first post.
